Family Adoption Program















The activities conducted at Village Ambebahula on 17/03/2025 were organized on the occasion of the commencement of the Family Adoption Program for first-year MBBS students of GMC Nashik, Batch 2024. This program, designed to instill a sense of community responsibility among medical students, was seamlessly integrated with various activities under the 100 Days Action Plan Mission of the Government of Maharashtra. The combined efforts aimed to promote healthcare awareness, provide essential medical services to the villagers, and encourage student involvement in rural healthcare initiatives.
Following institutes have contributed in successful conduction of Community outreach activities:

- Grampanchayat, Ambebahula.
The activity commenced promptly at 9:00 AM with the inauguration of the Family Adoption Program for first-year MBBS students of the 2024 batch. This initiative aims to promote community engagement and holistic healthcare involvement among budding medical professionals as per NMC guidelines.

After inauguration ceremony, felicitation of guests and lamp lighting Dr. Sujata Muneshwar , HOD , Dept. of Community Medicine explained the concept of the Family Adoption Programme and the 100 Days Mission of the Government of Maharashtra to audience. Dr. Venkat Gite, Dean, GMC Nashik, interacted with the MBBS students and explained them importance of going within the community and understanding their problems and developing a problem solving approach out of it, under the 100 days mission action plan of govt. of
maharashta Dr. Gopal Shinde explained about the importance of organ donation and blood donation. Dr. Sachin Devare, intencivist, Guruji Rugnalay informed everyone about the ‘One Week for Nation’ activity run by Shri Guruji Rugnalay for MBBS students. Under this initiative, students are encouraged and supported to visit villages and provide healthcare services for a week in that particular remote area. He also motivated MBBS students to actively participate in this noble activity. Dr. Kuldeep Shirpurkar, Regional Head of MJPJY provided valuable information about the ABHA Card, Ayushman Bharat Scheme, and MJPJY Scheme, explaining the procedure for enrollment and the benefits of these schemes in availing health insurance during medical emergencies in Maharashtra.
A multidisciplinary diagnostic camp was organized as part of the event. Esteemed doctors from all the above two institutes generously contributed their expertise. The participating departments included Medicine, Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynecology (OBGY), ENT, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Pediatrics, and Pathology. This comprehensive setup ensured a wide range of medical services for the villagers. The camp extended its services to all present villagers. Every school child underwent screening, ensuring a proactive approach to pediatric health. Additionally, all available Gramastha (villagers) were examined, promoting comprehensive community health coverage. Total beneficiaries were 145 people, out of which 50 were male and 95 were females. Medicines were distributed to all the patients by Dr. Sanket Sonavane, Senior Resident from Dept. of Pharmacology, GMC, Nashik. All the MBBS and nursing students contributed to clinical examinations and the distribution of medicines, playing an essential role in making this activity successful.
Simultaneously, following activities were conducted under the 100 days action plan of Govt. of Maharashtra
- Blood Donation Camp was conducted, encouraging voluntary participation to support local healthcare needs.
- Awareness campaign on breast cancer for female patients visiting the camp was conducted by Dr. Ganesh Chaudhary, HOD Surgery.
- Awareness about, obesity control and oral hygiene was created among the 93 students present among the villagers by Dr. Sujata Muneshwar during present activity.
- Street play was performed by first-year MBBS students of GMC Nashik to raise awareness about organ donation.
- Tree plantation drive started by plantation of trees in the nearby area of anganwadi.
Dr. Pratima Gedam, Associate Professor, Department of Community Medicine, played a key role in planning and coordinating of the event. Dr. Shreeram Gosavi, Assistant Professor and Deputy Dean, skillfully conducted the entire program as the host and contributed in micro planning and execution of event. Dr. Girish Jagtap, Assistant Professor of Community Medicine, and Amol Patil, Statistician cum Assistant Professor, worked diligently to ensure the event’s success by handling the execution and micro planning. Refreshments and snacks were provided by Shri Guruji Rugnalay for all the doctors present at the event. The event was marked by seamless coordination, enthusiastic participation, and a collective spirit of service of all the three institutes, reinforcing commitment to rural healthcare and medical education.
