Only Nashik Government Medical College Approved Among Nine Appealed Colleges
The National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted approval to only one of the nine medical colleges that had appealed after being previously rejected. Nashik Government Medical College received the approval. As a result, the admission process for 50 MBBS seats will begin from September 14.
Government Medical College, Nashik Building to be Repaired with ₹5 Crore Allocation
Nashik, 10 March 2025 – The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences has decided to utilize the old Bytco Hospital building on Nashik Road as a temporary facility for the new medical college. As a result, admissions for the first batch of students will commence soon. The state government has allocated ₹5 crore for necessary repairs and modifications to the building.
The Maharashtra University of Health Sciences will oversee the repair and infrastructure development process. Along with the medical college, 430 additional hospital beds will be operational. The old hospital building and its medical facilities will be renovated, including essential structural repairs such as water-proofing, drainage line improvements, sanitation repairs, and painting.
Additionally, 28 residential quarters will be made available for staff and faculty. These developments will ensure that the college operates smoothly until a permanent infrastructure is established.
Committee Formed for ‘Civil’ Hospital Transfer and Infrastructure Planning
Nashik, March 25 – A special committee has been formed to oversee the transfer of the Civil Hospital to the government medical college and Maharashtra Postgraduate Medical Education and Research Institute. This committee will manage the administrative, logistical, and infrastructural adjustments required for the transition.
As part of the plan, 5,000 square feet of space will be allocated for the offices of district surgeons and other administrative functions, while 10,000 square feet will be designated for the pharmaceutical storage facility. This arrangement will ensure that hospital operations continue smoothly while integrating with the new medical college setup.
The committee comprises senior officials from various departments, including hospital administration, pharmaceuticals, biomedical engineering, radiation, and ophthalmology. They will ensure that necessary equipment, resources, and medications are adequately supplied for efficient hospital management.
The hospital authorities will prepare a detailed report on the availability and utilization of medicines, ensuring that drug supply remains uninterrupted. Additionally, proposals will be submitted for various hospital development projects. The committee will oversee the planning and execution of these initiatives to enhance healthcare services in the region.

She also emphasised that the anatomical dissection is a time tested method of medical education and should not be replaced by modern technologies.
The Dissection Hall is designed to provide a safe and efficient learning environment, enabling students to gain practical experience in human dissection, essential for their development as skilled healthcare professionals.
The event concluded with remarks from Dr. Venkat Gite, Dean, Government Medical College, Nashik, who expressed excitement for the future of the medical program at the institution and emphasized how dissecting cadavers would enhance students understanding of human anatomy. A ribbon-cutting ceremony by hands of Dr. Venkat Gite sir officially opened the Dissection Hall, marking the beginning of a new chapter in the institution’s educational journey.
